How To Embellish Handmade Frames

Embellished Frames

Create stunning embellished frames using scrap materials in this fun and versatile project. Starting with a simple tab base, you can customize each frame to your unique style. Add as much or as little as you like: scraps, embellishments, flowers, envelopes, tags, appliqués, postage stamps, fabric, ribbon, or lace.

Materials

  • Scrap paper or card stock for making the frames
  • Embellishments of your choice
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Instructions

  1. Make Your Frames:

    • Begin by making your frames. You can use pre-made frames, make them with dies if you prefer, or cut them from scrap packaging material.
    • Alternatively, follow the tutorial to learn how to make frames from scraps.
    • Use any corner square to ensure your angles remain sharp.
    • After the glue dries, press the frames in your Sizzix for a polished look and to make them more sturdy.
  2. Cover Your Frame:

    • Decorate your frame as desired using washi tape, stamps, paint, ink, or spray.
    • Consider embossing your frames, as it effectively hides the seams.
    • In the tutorial, you can learn how to make handmade washi from simple invisible tape and a magazine.
  3. Embellish Your Frame:

    • Choose a tab of your choice to begin embellishing and place it on any side of the frame as shown in the tutorial. This tab will serve as your base.
    • Add any embellishments of your choice—use as few or as many as you want.
  4. Use Your Embellished Frames:

    • These frames can be used as focal points on covers, tags, and cards, or to add some flair to any project.

Happy paper crafting!
