How to Make a Book Cover or Holder with One Sheet of 12x12" Paper

This design can be used as either a book cover or a book holder by simply gluing the cover to create a side pocket or top pocket. If you prefer a more traditional binding, watch the video for tips on strengthening the back cover by adding pockets or a flip. This roomy book cover offers plenty of options for personalization, including two front pockets. Once you learn the easy construction process, you can make it in any size.

Materials

  • One sheet of 12×12″ scrapbook paper (medium weight or heavier). Double-sided, non-directional paper is preferred.
  • Scoreboard or scoring tool
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Instructions

  1. Scoring the Paper:

    • Score your 12×12″ paper at 6″.
    • Make a quarter turn and score again at 6″.
    • This will create four equal squares on your paper.
  2. Cutting and Folding:

    • Starting from the left, cut to the center scoreline.
    • Fold and glue as shown in the video.
  3. Choosing Your Style:

    • For a book holder, glue the pockets as suggested or tuck your booklet into the front pocket.
    • For a book cover using traditional binding, refer to the video for tips on strengthening the back cover with reinforcement, pockets, or a flip.
  4. Decorating:

    • Fill and decorate your book cover or holder as desired.
