Inspirational Beginnings
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas everywhere I go….
I guess it is time to start focusing on this year’s Christmas card designs so I’ve been perusing Pinterest and I love the junk jewelry art pieces, one of my favorites seen below. The blank velvet shadow box frame is still hanging on my wall as I still can’t quite muster up the nerve to glue my Mother’s costume jewelry and some of my own old pieces but I do love this idea. I will revisit sewing them on though.
The embellishment in the paper craft at right was inspired in part by these creations as well as the silver and gold combination. Since I couldn’t find another suitable embellishment for the top right I wish I would’ve made it a little larger but next time….. and eventually I do want a smaller hole punch.
I began with A Very Victorian Christmas Ephemera, printed at 50% for the tag and 70% for the background and used some of my DIY glitter snow as seen in this post to stencil the background and scrape the edges of the base. I also used it to stencil the corners with a plastic lace doily and went over the gray swirl cutout with it too.
I don’t think they will be suitable for regular mail so I intend to play around with the idea a little to see if I can come up with a less dimensional version.
I’m not quite sure if this design will end up on a card or as a tag but it was a fun beginning to get me in the mood for a little bling and glitter and I hope it inspires you to look outside of the usual sources for inspiration as well.
