Tuck & Treat Valentine Envelope Closure
Add a simple corner bookmark to the flap of these envelopes to create an easy tuck-style closure, then slip in a small treat of your choice. Any rectangular piece of paper works well, but the envelopes shown here are made from 8½″ × 11″ paper cut in half, perfect for holding a square candy, tea bag, or other flat surprise. Paper hearts, tickets, tags, or favorite bits of ephemera make these envelopes especially suitable for happy mail.

The closure itself can be made from any rectangular scrap. A wider rectangle creates a deeper pocket, just keep in mind that if it’s too deep, the flap may not release easily when opening the envelope. For a finishing touch, embellish the front of the closure as shown, by personalizing it to match your theme.
You can dress up the top edge of the closure with a decorative paper punch or edge dies. Try fancy corner punches for shaping the corners, and decorative scissors are another easy option. If you prefer a softer look, try adding lace, a paper ruffle, or a strip of washi tape. For a more rustic or distressed style, simply tear the top edge instead.
Inside the envelope, tuck a handwritten note or a small card to complete the gift.
The money holder version measures 9″ × 9″ and is designed to hold a US bill. It’s an easy, no-glue fold that comes together quickly. You can also tuck in a tag, a tiny bundle of dried flowers, embellishments, or a small card for added interest.
These envelopes are especially sweet for Valentine gifting, but they’re truly all-season favorites. They assemble quickly and leave plenty of room for creativity, making them a fun and versatile project to keep in your paper crafting rotation.
Happy paper crafting!
